Bangkoks Geheimtipp: das Rembrandt Hotel (E)

Bangkok, 25.09.2013 – Bangkok is busy around the clock and has just been named as the best tourist city in the world, beating London and Paris. It usually is not easy to choose a hotel in which you feel comfortable similiar to your own home. Our recommendation: the Rembrandt Hotel at Soi 18. It has emerged as Bangkok’s well-kept secret.

Being managed by the experienced and friendly Swede hotelier Eric Hallin, the Indian-owned property is one of the many huge towers, which characterize and dominate the glitzy skyline of Bangkok. Arriving at Sukhumvit Soi 18, around 300 meters within the Soi, guests enter the hotel’s spacious lobby, where an ever-smiling and helpful staff welcomes you. A hotel-owned “tuk-tuk” is available and the hotel is in a convenient walking distance to the sky train and metro station near the luxury newest shopping centre of Terminal 21.

At the long-stretching reception desk, guests can choose from 407 rooms, including a presidential suite. Room rates for a superior room hover around 100 USD, depending on the season, but there are a lot of upscale rooms for families, long-time residents and highly recommended executive rooms on the upper floors. Altogether, the hotel has 26 floors, but once inside, you feel not to be in a high-rise building at all.

All rooms have Wi-Fi and are well-equipped with showers, bathroom and other well-known facilities. An out-door swimming pool is a must, when you need to relax.

If you are looking for an executive room, try the cozy Executive Lounge on the 24th floor for a rich breakfast and evening get-togethers. The popular Lobby Bar with daily Live Jazz Music is a real recommendation to start the evening.

But the real highlights of the hotel are its four outstanding restaurants: the Senior Pico on the first floor, where modern Mexican food is served alongside a tequila bar. The Red Pepper, also on the first floor, offers Thai fresh seafood, while the Italian Restaurant “daVinci” with a Tuscany style atmosphere is located on the 4th floor of the hotel. Last not least, there is the elegant Rang Mahal Rooftop Indian Restaurant, which is highly-praised all over Bangkok with its sophisticated Northern Indian kitchen.

Thinking to do something for your health? Either choose the gym in the modern Thai style décor Sanctuary Wellness & Spa, offering signature treatments such as an Oriental Fusion Massage or an extraordinary Hot Stone Massage. For guests, who want to do their own cooking, don’t miss to attend the new cooking studio, specializing in authentic Thai cuisine and fruit carving classes.

A business centre is available for all kinds of secretarial work

Needless to say, Rembrandt Hotel also offers some seminar rooms for up to 400 people and features a ballroom for 500 up to 750 guests. So weddings can be easily arranged or MICE events successfully organized. Finally, don’t hesitate to make Rembrandt Hotel your second home, when in Bangkok. AT/Reinhard Hohler
