VIETNAM COOKING CHALLENGE ON INSTAGRAM

HANOI – Home cooks and fans of Vietnamese cuisine all over the world are invited to show their skills in the first-ever online cooking challenge organised by the Viet Nam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT).

Hosted on Instagram and running from March 10 to March 30, 2021, the challenge asks participants to cook any Vietnamese dish they like at home, and share their efforts on Instagram for the chance to win gift sets of premium Vietnamese ingredients from Red Boat, makers of ‘the world’s purest fish sauce’.

To support fans in joining the contest, Vietnam’s national tourism website has launched a series of home-cooking videos with accompanying recipes, showing how to make classic Vietnamese dishes from scratch, including bánh mì, bánh xèo, and bún thang. Fans can view the videos and download the recipes at vietnam.travel

To join the home-cooking challenge, participants can follow these steps:
1. Choose a Vietnamese dish to cook at home,
2. Record and upload the process and finished results to Instagram Stories, tagging @vietnamtourismboard, and
3. Follow the @vietnamtourismboard account to find out the winners.

Every week the best entries and dishes will be re-shared by Vietnam’s official Instagram account. Fans can also choose to spice up their stories using a set of #vietnomnom GIFs created by Vietnam Tourism Board for the contest.

On March 31, three winners will be selected by @vietnamtourismboard and Red Boat Fish Sauce to receive a gift set. Each set includes world-class Vietnamese ingredients, including a bottle of Phamily Reserve 40°N barrel-aged fish sauce, concentrated nước chấm dipping sauce, jar of natural palm sugar, and a handmade ceramic bowl created by Vườn Nhà Gốm studio in Ho Chi Minh City.

“We know that many of our friends overseas are missing the food of Vietnam,” said Mr. Đinh Ngọc Đức, Marketing Director at VNAT. “We hope they will be encouraged to join the contest, have fun while cooking, and enjoy the flavours of Vietnam from home, until we are able to welcome them back again.”

Red Boat Fish Sauce follows a centuries-old process of making fish sauce on the island of Phú Quốc. Each bottle contains only two ingredients — wild-caught black anchovies and high-quality salt — which are fermented in wooden barrels for at least twelve months, and bottled from the first press.
