YANGON – Myanmar’s military has taken over the country in an apparent coup and detained de facto leader Aung San Suu Kyi and other senior officials.

The ruling National League for Democracy party has warned of a return to a “dictatorship” and called on the public to protest. The power grab has drawn sharp rebukes from the international community. (Nikkei)
