Japan searching for local mask producers

TOKYO – With Japan unable to secure more than a fraction of the millions of N95 masks it will need to fight the coronavirus pandemic, the hunt is on for domestic suppliers that do not produce them in China.

The disposable virus-blocking masks are in such short supply that the health ministry has begun calling for hospitals to reuse them.

But the handful of domestic producers are too small to ramp up output quickly. (Nikkei)
