Shenzhen –  Huawei has registered its new operating system “Huawei ARK OS” at Europe’s trade administration EUIPO and at the German patent and trademark office on May 24.

This seems to confirm that the Huawei Hongmeng OS will in future be known globally as “ARK OS”.

On May 14, the company registered its “Huawei Hongmeng” trade mark also at the Chinese trademark office.

In March, the company’s CEO, Yu Hengdong, confirmed that Huawei is developing its own OS in case it’s prohibited from using Android or the Windows system by the US.

Yu told in an interview with the television network CNBC that the operating system could be ready by the fourth quarter of this year and a version for the global market in the first or the second quarter of 2020.
