Thailand: German Tourist Injured in Fish Attack

KHAO LAK – A 57-year-old German tourist suffered a serious leg injury yesterday at 11 am after being bitten by a large fish while swimming off Khao Lak Beach in Phang Nga, Thailand. The deep wound, approximately 15cm wide and 30cm long, prompted an immediate rescue by a hotel lifeguard who noticed the man signaling for help.

Authorities, including marine officials, are investigating the incident to determine the species involved, with initial speculation pointing to a shark. Red flags now mark the beach, and tourists are advised to exercise caution. The injured man is recovering in a Phuket hospital. (zai)
