KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysian authorities have issued a grave warning of the worst flooding in a decade, set to hit Kelantan and nearby regions in the coming days. Deputy Prime Minister Zahid Hamidi compared the potential devastation to the catastrophic 2014 “yellow flood,” which displaced over 200,000 people.
Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim revealed in Parliament that between November 24 and 28, over 37,000 people – predominantly in Kelantan – had been evacuated. By the evening of November 28, the number rose to 63,219, with Kelantan accounting for 80%. (zai)
