Cambodia and Liechtenstein: Bilateral Cooperation

PHNOM PENH – In a virtual meeting on September 30, the Kingdom of Cambodia and the Principality of Liechtenstein have officially embarked on a new chapter of diplomatic relations, signifying a mutual commitment to fostering development and educational advancement. The Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Cambodia, KHUON Phon Rattanak, and Peter BECK, President of the Foundation Board of the Liechtenstein Development Service (LED), have laid the groundwork for what promises to be a fruitful partnership between the two nations.

The agreement reached during this meeting marks the beginning of the LED’s physical presence in Cambodia, with the inauguration of an LED Country Office. This strategic move is anticipated to be a pivotal element in strengthening the ties between Cambodia and Liechtenstein. The office will serve as a hub for implementing various collaborative projects, particularly in education and human capital development.

Both parties have expressed optimism about the potential of this partnership to bring about significant improvements in the quality of life for the Cambodian people. The focus on educational opportunities is expected to yield long-term benefits, equipping the youth of Cambodia with the skills and knowledge necessary to contribute to the nation’s growth and prosperity.

Establishing the LED Country Office in Cambodia is just the beginning of a series of planned activities to enhance cooperation across multiple sectors. These initiatives are designed to leverage the strengths of both countries, with Liechtenstein’s expertise in financial services and Cambodia’s rich cultural heritage and burgeoning economy. (zai)
