200 ASEAN students study annually at EU universities

BRUSSELS- In the dynamic landscape of global education, the EU-ASEAN academic cooperation stands as a testament to the enduring commitment to international learning and cultural exchange. Since its inception in 1987, the Erasmus program has undergone a significant transformation, culminating in the comprehensive Erasmus+ initiative.

This expansive program synergizes previous EU efforts in fostering transnational collaboration and mobility across a spectrum of disciplines, including education, training, youth, and sports, extending its reach well beyond the European continent.

From 2014 to 2023, Erasmus+ welcomed over 13 million participants, with a considerable contingent hailing from the ASEAN region, underscoring the program’s inclusive and far-reaching appeal. The Erasmus Mundus Joint Masters (EMJM) Scholarships program is particularly noteworthy,  offering more than 200 ASEAN students annually the chance to immerse themselves in a diverse array of over 200 courses at various European universities. This initiative not only enriches the academic prowess of ASEAN students but also fosters a deeper understanding and appreciation of European cultures and educational paradigms.

Looking ahead to the 2025 application cycle, the virtual information session is poised to serve as a pivotal platform for ASEAN students. It promises to demystify the application process, provide invaluable insights from Erasmus alumni, and facilitate a direct dialogue between prospective students and those who have traversed the path before them. The digital format of the event guarantees that no student, regardless of location within the ASEAN region, will be at a disadvantage, ensuring equitable access to information and opportunities.

The session is designed to be both informal and interactive, encouraging a free-flowing exchange of ideas and experiences. Attendees can anticipate a comprehensive overview of the Erasmus+ program, detailed guidance on the application and selection procedures, and the unique opportunity to network with Erasmus alumni.

This event is more than just an informational seminar; it is a gateway to a transformative educational journey, a chance to join the ranks of the Erasmus+ community, and a stepping stone toward a future replete with academic and intercultural achievements. As such, it represents a crucial component of the EU-ASEAN’s people-to-people connectivity strategy, embodying the spirit of cooperation and mutual enrichment that is at the heart of this enduring partnership.
