Vietnamese Tech specialists for Germany: Roadshow

HO CHI MINH CITY – German companies are facing challenges in retaining IT and engineering professionals due to an aging population and increasing demand, particularly in the field of artificial intelligence (AI). Outsourcing certain tasks and processes to other countries could be a solution to address these challenges. In this context, Vietnam offers an attractive option with its young and capable workforce.

The German Federal Ministry of Economic Affairs, in cooperation with the German Chambers of Commerce and Industry (IHKs) and their AHK Vietnam office in Ho-Chi-Minh City, has organized a German roadshow that will take place from May 19 to 23, with workshops offered in Munich, Heilbronn, Dortmund, and Leipzig.

Mission and Vision of the Project

Vision: Improve the competitiveness of German companies by utilizing Vietnam’s technical know-how.

Mission: Assist German companies in securing IT and engineering capabilities by raising awareness about Vietnamese solution providers.

Market Analysis

Germany’s digital economy is growing rapidly. It is characterized by the emergence of new IT players and the increasing digitization of processes and products by traditional companies. This development has led to a significant demand for professionals in IT and engineering (TechDesign). However, forecasts show that by 2040, around 663,000 IT positions could remain unfilled due to a lack of qualified talent within Germany.

To close this talent gap, companies are increasingly engaging professionals from abroad. Historically, German firms have focused on Eastern Europe, Turkey, and India. However, Vietnam has developed a rapidly growing TechDesign industry, which remains relatively unknown in Germany. This presents an opportunity for German companies to explore Vietnam as a source of qualified TechDesign professionals.

Target Group

The roadshow is aimed at the following company groups in Germany:

  • IT and digital service companies
  • Traditional industrial companies from various sectors, such as machinery, automotive, and chemical industries

These groups have different needs:

  • Passive demand: To receive information and inspiration
  • Active demand: To engage in concrete exchanges with knowledge holders

The roadshow addresses these needs through presentations (to fulfill passive demand) and networking opportunities with event sponsors (to meet active demand).

Vietnam’s Investment in IT Professionals

Vietnam is not only an emerging IT hub but has also heavily invested in the training and development of skilled professionals in recent years. Reports indicate that Vietnam ranks among the countries with the largest number of IT and engineering graduates in Southeast Asia. This makes it a strategic partner for companies seeking a sustainable solution to the talent shortage.
