Bangkok – Thai coup leader on Saturday night dissolved the Senate and transferred a few important government officials to inactive posts following Thursday’s coup.
Prayuth said that he had taken over the authority of the House of Representatives and the Senate for the time being in case any actions require approval of the parliament.
Those transferred by the order of the military junta included police chief Pol Gen Adul Saengsingkaew, Department of Special Investigation chief Tharit Pengdit and defense undersecretary Gen Nipat Thonglek.
Pol Gen Adul, Tharit and Gen Nipat were viewed as supporters of the elected government which was earlier deposed by the coup junta. Source: Xinhua
