BANGKOK – Thailand’s Immigration Bureau has issued an urgent warning to international travelers about a growing number of fraudulent websites impersonating the official Thailand Digital Arrival Card (TDAC) system. These fake websites are scamming users by charging unauthorized processing fees for what is otherwise a completely free government immigration service.
New System, Old Tricks: Scammers Exploit Digital Shift
The TDAC system, which officially launched on May 1, 2025, replaces the former paper-based TM6 arrival cards and is now mandatory for all foreign nationals entering Thailand via air, sea, or land. Travelers are required to submit their arrival information on the official TDAC website within three days prior to travel. Upon completion, they receive a confirmation email, which must be shown at the point of entry.
However, in the wake of the system’s rollout, fraudulent third-party websites have appeared, falsely claiming to offer “authorized” TDAC processing services for a fee—typically around $10 USD. These sites mimic the appearance of government portals, misleading users into believing they are accessing the legitimate TDAC service.
In reality, the official TDAC system is free of charge, and no payment is ever required.
Government Support and Temporary Measures
To accommodate travelers unfamiliar with the new system or facing technical issues, computer terminals are available at key immigration checkpoints, including Suvarnabhumi International Airport, to help them complete the TDAC form upon arrival.
During the early stages of the system’s rollout, traditional paper immigration forms may still be accepted as a temporary backup for those experiencing difficulties with the digital process.
How to Stay Safe: Official Guidance for Travelers
Thai authorities emphasize the importance of vigilance when submitting immigration documents online. To avoid falling victim to scams, travelers are advised to:
-
✅ Only use the official TDAC website: https://www.thaidac.go.th (verify the URL carefully).
-
✅ Check for HTTPS security: Ensure the site has a secure connection (a lock icon in the browser address bar).
-
✅ Avoid third-party services: The TDAC form does not require any intermediary or agent.
-
✅ Never pay a fee: The digital arrival card is a free service provided by the Thai government.
-
✅ Bookmark the official site in your browser to avoid being redirected to fake domains.
The Immigration Bureau urges all travelers to report suspicious websites and spread awareness to ensure a safe, scam-free experience when entering Thailand.
