New Flight Route Connects Nanning and Haiphong

NANNING/GUANGXI – Qingdao Airlines has been operating a new direct flight route between Nanning, the capital of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and Haiphong, Vietnam, since March 7. The connection offers three flights per week and is expected to boost economic, cultural, and tourism exchanges between the two countries.

Flight Schedule and Frequency

The route operates on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. On these days, flight QW6185 departs from Nanning Wuxu International Airport at 1:15 PM (Beijing time) and lands in Haiphong at 2:20 PM. The return flight, QW6186, leaves Haiphong at 3:20 PM and arrives in Nanning at 4:55 PM.

Promoting Trade, Tourism, and Cultural Exchange

Industry experts anticipate the new flight route will significantly enhance economic cooperation and cultural exchange between Guangxi and Vietnam. In particular, this initiative is viewed as a milestone in the anniversary year of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam—2025 marks 75 years of partnership—and during the “Year of People-to-People Exchange” between the two countries.

The route is also expected to foster closer trade ties and stimulate tourism activities between China and Vietnam.

Guangxi’s Focus on the ASEAN Region

The introduction of this new route reflects Guangxi’s ongoing efforts to expand air links with ASEAN member states. The goal is to establish more efficient and convenient air corridors between China and ASEAN countries.

In 2024, Nanning Wuxu International Airport resumed 19 international and regional flight routes. Guangxi’s capital region is now connected to 15 international destinations in Southeast Asia, including Bangkok (Thailand), Phnom Penh (Cambodia), Singapore, Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Manila (Philippines), and Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam).

Symbolic Importance for Bilateral Relations

The new flight connection comes at a time of deepening partnerships between China and Vietnam, characterized increasingly by trade, cultural exchanges, and tourism. It underscores the strategic importance of Guangxi as a bridge between China and ASEAN countries. (zai)
