TOKYO/FRANKFURT – ANA All Nippon Airways, Japan’s largest airline and a recipient of Skytrax’s prestigious 5-star rating for 12 consecutive years, has been named “Airline of the Year 2025” by Air Transport World (ATW) at the 51st Airline Industry Achievement Awards this year. The Star Alliance member has now received this esteemed award for the fourth time, following previous wins in 2007, 2013, and 2018—making it the most awarded Asian airline in the history of the accolade. This further cements the Japanese market leader’s position as one of the world’s leading airlines.
The annual ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards, established in 1974, celebrate excellence in the aviation industry. These awards, considered the most coveted in the sector, honor individuals and organizations demonstrating outstanding performance, innovation, or service. The “2025 Airline of the Year Award,” now presented to ANA, is the highest of these awards, recognizing an airline each year for exceptional achievements and advanced services.
“We are truly delighted to receive this special award,” said Shinichi Inoue, President and CEO of ANA. “It is a testament to the recognition of our safety, hospitality, efforts to enhance the customer experience, the expansion of our global network, and the daily contributions of our employees. We will continue to shape the future of air travel by exceeding our customers’ expectations.”
ATW Editor-in-Chief Karen Walker commented: “ANA has earned this recognition well. The ATW Airline of the Year Award is reserved for the best of the best in the global aviation industry. As a multiple-time winner of this award, the entire ANA team has once again demonstrated excellence in operational and financial performance, exceptional customer service, innovative thinking, and a steadfast commitment to safety, sustainability, and community engagement. Congratulations, ANA!”
ANA enhances the travel experience not only by focusing on direct customer interactions but also by considering the time before and after the flight as part of a unique journey. The airline has also continued to expand its route network, adding new destinations such as Milan, Stockholm, and Istanbul since December last year. Through ongoing efforts in safety and customer experience, ANA remains committed to sustainable growth as a leading global airline.
