Gourmet tour at the Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival

HONG KONG – Hong Kong once again showcased what the metropolis has to offer in terms of cuisine. The annual Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival returned to the Central Harbourfront from October 23 to 27. This year, the festival expanded into a five-day celebration of culinary delights, inviting gourmets from near and far to indulge in pleasure against the stunning backdrop of Victoria Harbour. More than 300 stalls presented a rich array of innovative gourmet experiences from around the world at this year’s event.

Following the festival “Taste Around Town” from October 28 to November 30, special menus and promotions were offered in bars and restaurants throughout Hong Kong. This provided enthusiasts with the opportunity to explore the city’s gastronomic treasures.

Discovering the World of Wines and Spirits

Wine lovers had the chance to enjoy a diverse selection of wines and spirits at pavilions representing over 30 countries and regions, ranging from Bordeaux and Chile to hidden gems from lesser-known and emerging regions. Guests could sample exquisite Chinese wines, such as Guizhou Baijiu, and Jade Dove Cabernet, which was rated by renowned wine critic James Suckling as one of the “Top 10 Wines of the Year 2021 in China.”

In addition to a new section dedicated to gins and whiskies, spirits and cocktail enthusiasts could savor cocktails from local bars and spirit brands, including Cantonese-inspired drinks at Kinsman, tea cocktails from Tell Camellia, and locally produced gin from Hong Kong distillery N.I.P.

Moments of Enjoyment in the Asian Metropolis

The Hong Kong Wine & Dine Festival 2024 delighted visitors with themed areas such as “Culinary Stars” and “Hotel Delicious,” featuring Michelin-starred restaurants and Bib Gourmand recommended venues. Foodies also had the opportunity to try iconic dishes from renowned establishments, including the three-Michelin-starred Forum Restaurant, as well as award-winning restaurants like Hong Kong Cuisine 1983,  Ăn Chơi, and Fisholic.

Interested gourmets could participate in masterclasses and wine workshops at the Tasting Theatre, led by celebrity chefs and sommeliers. Interactive experiences included wine and cocktail pairing courses conducted by sommeliers and a workshop by James Beard Award-winning chef Nancy Silverton. In the Harbour Lounge, overlooking Victoria Harbour, guests enjoyed cocktails crafted by famous international mixologists.

A Culinary Tour Through the City

More than 300 restaurants and bars across Hong Kong participated in the food festival. Meat lovers could visit over 40 steakhouses, hot pot restaurants, and street food stalls participating in the “Beef Up November” campaign, offering exceptional beef dishes and special menus. Over 200 mid-range and upscale restaurants took part in the “Chill EAT” campaign, providing exclusive discounts throughout November.

Twenty-four restaurants and bars in Lan Kwai Fong, Hong Kong’s world-famous nightlife district, offered special promotions under “Sip and Savour in LKF,” including complimentary welcome drinks or discounts on tasting menus. Additionally, over 70 bars across the city participated in the “Hong Kong Bar Show,” offering festival attendees complimentary or discounted drinks.
