Seoul – The confirmed death toll from the South Korean ferry which capsized nearly three weeks ago has risen to 244, 58 still missing.
An official from the maritime administration said divers found six more bodies on Sunday. 105 divers took part in the search of crowded sections of the third and fourth deck, accessing 60 out of 64 cabins. 13 civilian divers will now join the operation.
The government has provided about 70,000 US dollars assistance funds to every passenger’s families. Investigations into the cause of the disaster have focused on possible overloading of the ferry. Prosecutors have arrested some personnel from the logistics company involved. Source: CCTV
