BEIJING – China’s automobile sales rose 47.9 percent year-on-year to nearly 2.44 million units in January, the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers said on Wednesday.

The country’s vehicle production rose 51.2 percent year-on-year to 2.41 million units last month. Production and sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China were 787,000 and 729,000 units respectively in January, and the market share of NEVs in the Chinese market has reached 29.9 percent.
