Phnom Penh – Cambodian and Argentine senior officials met here on Monday to discuss ways to promote ties and intensify cooperation.
The meeting in Phnom Penh took place between Cambodia’s Foreign Secretary of State Ouch Borith and Argentina’s deputy State Secretary for Foreign Ministry Carolina Perez Colman.
Speaking to journalists after the meeting, Borith said the two sides are working together to draft a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the establishment of a political consultation mechanism. The MoU is expected to be signed in the near future.
“This is the first time we talked on the level of leaders of foreign ministries,” he said.
According to Borith, trade and investment relations between the two nations were relatively small as some 4,060 Argentine tourists visited Cambodia in the first six months of this year, up 4 percent year-on-year.
For her part, Carolina emphazised that Argentina is willing to strengthen and expand ties and cooperation with Cambodia. She pledges to encourage more Argentines to visit Cambodia.
