ASEAN and Portugal to Foster Cooperation

Portuguese Ambassador to ASEANJakarta – The Ambassador of Portugal to Indonesia, Joaquim Alberto de Soura Moreira de Lemos, presented his Letter of Credence yesterday to Le Luong Minh, Secretary-General of ASEAN, thus assuming his post as the Ambassador of Portugal to ASEAN.

SG Minh congratulated Ambassador Lemos for assuming his duty and stressed that Ambassador Lemos could play an important role in fostering cooperation between ASEAN and Portugal as well as within the framework of ASEAN-EU cooperation. SG Minh encouraged Ambassador Lemos to explore practical cooperative activities that could be undertaken between the two sides in the areas of mutual interest. SG Minh also briefed Ambassador Lemos on the progress of the ASEAN Community building.

Ambassador Lemos thanked SG Minh for accepting the Letter of Credence and discussed regional developments as well as international issues. Ambassador Lemos also stressed his commitment to work with ASEAN and the ASEAN Secretariat to enhance cooperation between ASEAN and Portugal as well as ASEAN and EU as a whole.
