HANOI – Japanese retail giant Aeon Mall Vietnam is set to further solidify its presence in Vietnam with the commencement of construction for a new $202 million mall in the picturesque coastal city of Ha Long.
Scheduled to begin in early December, the five-story mall will span across a 91,000-square-meter lot and is expected to be completed by the end of April 2025. This latest development adds to Aeon’s growing portfolio of seven existing malls in Vietnam, collectively boasting 462,000 square meters of retail space.
Aeon’s ambitious expansion plans for Vietnam extend beyond Ha Long. The company recently received approval to build a VND5.4 trillion mall in the bustling Mekong Delta city of Can Tho.
Construction of its inaugural mall in the Mekong Delta commenced in Long An Province in May 2024. Additionally, the retailer plans to establish new malls in the central Vietnamese cities of Thanh Hoa and Da Nang.
Vietnam has emerged as a key market for Aeon, contributing nearly 40% of the company’s overseas profits. Over the past decade, Aeon has invested a substantial $1.5 billion in the country, underscoring its commitment to the Vietnamese market and its potential for long-term growth.
With its strategic investments and focus on providing high-quality shopping experiences, Aeon Mall Vietnam is poised to continue shaping the retail landscape in the country. (zai)
