TOKYO — The ANA Group has once again secured the highest possible distinction from Skytrax, earning a five-star rating for the 13th consecutive year and reinforcing its reputation as one of the world’s most consistently acclaimed airlines.
The recognition, part of Skytrax’s annual World Airline Star Ratings, places ANA among a small circle of just 11 carriers worldwide to hold five-star status — and makes it the only Japanese airline to have maintained that level continuously since 2013. The assessment is based on a comprehensive audit of service quality, spanning airport operations, cabin comfort and in-flight hospitality.
Executives at ANA framed the award as validation of a long-term strategy centered on the passenger experience. Shinichi Inoue, the company’s president and chief executive, said the honor reflected the collective efforts of employees across the organization and reaffirmed ANA’s intention to “continue setting new benchmarks for the global aviation industry.”
Skytrax echoed that assessment. Edward Plaisted, the firm’s chief executive, cited ANA’s “world-class performance” in key areas such as cabin cleanliness, onboard dining and staff service, noting that standards were maintained consistently both in the air and on the ground.

Comfort, Cuisine and the Craft of Omotenashi
The five-star evaluation paid particular attention to ANA’s premium cabins, especially the First Class THE Suite and Business Class THE Room aboard long-haul flights operated by the Boeing 777-300ER. These products were praised for their emphasis on privacy, spaciousness and refined Japanese aesthetics.
Beyond seating, Skytrax highlighted the airline’s culinary program, which features curated Japanese cuisine, premium sake selections and high-quality sleepwear and bedding. Underpinning it all, the report noted, is ANA’s distinctive omotenashi — a philosophy of attentive, detail-driven hospitality that defines the airline’s service culture.
Looking Ahead: Privacy, Connectivity and Innovation
Building on the latest accolade, ANA outlined a series of upgrades aimed at extending its competitive edge. Beginning in 2026, the airline plans to introduce THE Room FX, a fully private business-class seat with a door, on international routes operated by the Boeing 787-9. At the same time, complimentary high-speed Wi-Fi will be expanded across all classes on international flights.
ANA is also strengthening its culinary team. Its group of renowned chefs, known as THE CONNOISSEURS, will grow to 16 members, tasked with developing refreshed onboard menus designed to elevate the dining experience for all passengers.
A Measured Consistency in a Changing Industry
In an era marked by rapid change and rising passenger expectations, ANA’s 13-year streak of five-star ratings stands out less as a single achievement than as a sustained performance. The latest Skytrax recognition underscores a broader message: that consistency, craftsmanship and a clear service philosophy remain powerful differentiators in global aviation.
