MANILA – Faster and More Convenient Access Reflects the Country’s Rise as a Top Southeast Asian Destination. Several international airlines are significantly expanding their connections to the Philippines this year, offering travelers faster and more attractive options. These developments also highlight the country’s growing status as a premier destination in Southeast Asia.
More One-Stop Routes to the Philippines
Flying to various destinations in the Philippines with just one layover is now possible with even more airlines. These newcomers complement existing options such as Air France and KLM, which offer alternating daily flights to Manila from Paris and Amsterdam. The new routes not only simplify access to the Philippine capital but also to regional airports like Cebu.
Via Hong Kong to Manila
A particularly noteworthy addition is being launched by Cathay Pacific, which introduces a new direct route between Munich and Hong Kong starting June 16. Operating four times a week with a modern Airbus A350, the service offers enhanced comfort through both Business Class and Premium Economy seating. This new route complements the airline’s existing daily service between Frankfurt and Hong Kong.
The added frequency makes continuing on to popular Philippine destinations easier, as Cathay Pacific offers daily connections not only to Manila but also to Cebu. Thanks to short layovers at Hong Kong International Airport, travelers can enjoy an efficient onward journey.
EVA Air Expands to Cebu
Taiwanese airline EVA Air has also expanded its network by introducing a new route from Munich to Cebu, with a layover in Taipei. This offers travelers a convenient way to reach the central and southern parts of the Philippines. The route adds to EVA Air’s existing services to Manila and Angeles City.
Codeshare Flights with Thai Airways
As of January 2025, codeshare flights between Lufthansa and Thai Airways are now available. These flights offer streamlined booking options for routes to Manila via Bangkok, with departures from both Frankfurt and Munich. This partnership reflects the airlines’ commitment to providing seamless travel experiences.
Istanbul as a Key Travel Hub
Turkish Airlines is also strengthening its Philippine connections, offering regular flights from its main hub in Istanbul to Manila. Especially attractive are the numerous connecting flights from cities across Central Europe, making one-stop travel to the Philippines both efficient and stress-free. (zai)Â
