ANA Airlines is taking off from Vienna again

VIENNA/TOKYO – All Nippon Airways (ANA), Japan’s largest airline, connects Vienna again with Tokyo-Haneda. The route is operated three times a week year-round with a state-of-the-art Boeing 787-9 (Dreamliner). ANA suspended the Vienna-Tokyo route in March 2020 due to the pandemic, but the airline is now returning to Vienna International Airport.

“Welcome back, ANA! The resumption of the connection to Tokyo-Haneda by Japan’s largest airline strengthens our position as an international hub. Tokyo is the fourth most popular destination in Asia at Vienna Airport. Tourism in Japan is booming, and Vienna is a highly sought-after destination in Europe for Japanese travelers. In addition, travelers can look forward to a special highlight in Japan: Osaka will host the World Expo EXPO 2025 next year. We are excited to continue our successful collaboration 35 years after the first ANA flight landed in Vienna,” said Mag. Julian Jäger, CEO of Flughafen Wien AG.

“The Vienna – Tokyo/Haneda route was launched on February 17, 2019, and has been very popular from the beginning, particularly with visitors from Japan who have a strong cultural interest. Vienna also plays an important role as a gateway to Eastern Europe, and is a key destination for business travelers. The suspension of the route due to the COVID-19 pandemic was very painful for us. We are therefore even happier today that this important and popular route is once again part of our global network. We are confident that the connection between our airline and Vienna International Airport now has a promising future,” added Katsuhiro Suzuki, General Manager of ANA in Vienna.
