Indonesia: 15 tourists missing, 10 rescued after boat capsizes

Jakarta – A boat carrying foreign holidaymakers sank in waters off Lombok Island of central parks of Indonesia on Saturday evening, 15 tourists went missing and 10 others rescued safely, rescuer said on Sunday.

The boat on route of Labuhan to Pulau Komodo (Komodo island) hit corals at about 13:00 p.m. local time Saturday that it capsized at about 19:00 p.m. local time, Coordinator of Search And Rescue Office in Bima, where the accident occurred, named only Suryaman said.

The tourist boat sank in the evening, he told Xinhua by phone from Bima.

“Five tourists were rescued by a sailor boat and five others by another boat. The rest of 15 remain missing,” Suryaman disclosed.

The 10 tourists are most from European counties, but the 15 missing persons were still unidentified, according to him.
