Electro-mobility: Beijing and Berlin cooperate

Berlin / Beijing – Under the framework of Sino-German Electric Vehicle Strategic Partnership, the Sustainable Transport Programme of GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB) provides support to deepen the cooperation and facilitating exchange between municipalities of the both countries.

After 21 years of fruitful cooperation, Berlin and Beijing are committed to broaden their collaboration. The promotion of electric vehicles was topic in talks between the mayors of both cities. As a part of these efforts, the Sustainable Transport Programme of GIZ organized a study tour for officials from the Beijing Commission of Science and Technology (BCST) and Beijing Municipal Commission of Transportation (BMCT) to Europe from 18th till 22nd May.

During the tour the delegation visited the “Berlin Agency for Electro-Mobility (eMO)” where a memorandum of understanding was signed to intensify the cooperation on electric vehicles. Topics of cooperation include E-carsharing, environmental impacts of electric vehicles and the integration of renewable energy into the charging infrastructure. The delegation also participated at the international conference “Emobility – Globally Connected”. Besides the visit to Berlin they also visited “Amsterdam elektrisch”, the National German “Showcase Project” of electro mobility in Bavaria and the Audi AG in Ingolstadt.
