China Premier Li Keqiang visits Thailand

Bangkok – Thailand is part of the Greater Mekong Subregion, an economic area formed in 1992, and an important part of China’s one road, one belt initiatives.

The Greater Mekong Subregion brings together 6 countries: China, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand and Vietnam.

The region is a major part of China’s 21th century maritime silk road, which will begin from Fujian province in east China and cross the Indian Ocean to Nairobi, in Kenya, before heading north to the Mediterranean.

China Premier Li’s visit is expected to upgrade the regional economic integration, and promote the construction of infrastructure, with a focus on railways. Source: Xinhua
