ASEAN and China Review Progress of Cooperation

Jakarta  – The 15th Meeting of the ASEAN-China Joint Cooperation Committee (ACJCC) was held today at the ASEAN Secretariat. The Meeting reviewed the progress of ASEAN-China cooperation in the past year, particularly the implementation of the ASEAN-China Plan of Action 2011-2015, follow-up actions on the decisions and proposals made by the Leaders at the 16th ASEAN-China Summit in October 2013 in Brunei Darussalam, and status of ASEAN-China projects and activities.

The Meeting also discussed a number of other important issues such as the implementation of ASEAN-China Cultural Exchange Year 2014 and the preparation for the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference session with China in August 2014. In addition, the Meeting exchanged views on ways and means to move forward ASEAN-China cooperation in the three pillars of cooperation covering political-security, economic, and socio-cultural.

The Meeting was co-chaired by Mr. Suvat Chirapant, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of the Kingdom of Thailand to ASEAN and Mme.  Yang Xiuping, Ambassador of the Mission of China to ASEAN. The Permanent Representatives of ASEAN Member States to ASEAN and their representatives, officials of the Mission of China to ASEAN and several line agencies in China, and the ASEAN Secretariat officials attended the meeting. The Secretary-General of the ASEAN-China Centre (ACC) was also present at the Meeting.
